I suppose, anyway, that kannel does not support SMS messaging thru' a
TDMA/CDMA modem/phone...
That is, the SMS service you set up in the US probably uses a GSM modem (any
coverage in US?) or a direct connection (e.g., TCP/IP, X25, ...) with an
SMSC. Am I wrong?
