When you first start booting, the on-screen text is the computers UEFI,
some moments later the display changes resolution and while still a
textual display, something else (Plymouth, the replacement for RHGB) is
providing the interface.

I wonder if that changeover is the cause of your problem, and
uninstalling or disabling that service might solve it.
