How can I tell if this will work?
Well, first approach would be to look up what modes your graphics card supports. Looking at the page, having a mains input is a godsend, you don't have some specialist external powersupply to contend with (often with a too- short cable). A headphone socket is good, too, it can be less of a fight to hear something without fighting with audio out configurations. I favour monitors with in-built speakers, too. They rarely sound good, but are useful enough to be able to listen to something without having to add more clutter to the set-up. > Also, there are a few terminals with the 16:10 ratio, notably > 1920x1200. My monitors are just 1920 by 1080 (same as ordinary hi-def TV), my eyesight probably isn't going to notice much better. And I keep my displays arm's length away. > There are a few 3840x2400 resolution monitors too, but they seem to > all be in the 16-17" range. Traditionally the very high resolution screens were used by graphics designers, with large screens. The travelling worker was expected to make do with their laptop, as it was. These days it's gamers pushing the high-resolution market. Again, with large screens. I don't think you mentioned what size screen you were looking for. -- uname -rsvp Linux 3.10.0-1160.119.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 4 14:43:51 UTC 2024 x86_64 (yes, this is the output from uname for this PC when I posted) Boilerplate: All unexpected mail to my mailbox is automatically deleted.
