I'm a routine user of multiple displays of different sizes and native
resolutions.

By default, native resolutions will be automatically used. It results in a
desktop
rectangle having at least one area which cannot be reached either visually or
with
pointer. This is verifiable by taking a fullscreen screenshot. Window can
overhang
the inaccessible area, and a screenshot will capture the whole window along with
the rest of the visually unreachable area. This is what I normally do, with
larger
display either to left or above.

Another option is to /configure/ the larger display to use a resolution equal to
the smaller. With displays that don't directly support a match, xrandr (in Xorg)
can scale the larger display down to the resolution of the smaller. With
2880x1800
and higher resolution displays (I have neither), the pixel density is so high
it's
likely you'll need a magnifying glass to notice any significant difference in
quality as long as your larger is not giant, such as would fill an entire small
physical desktop, or the distance from eyes to large screen is unusually close.
