This refers to using the RPMForge repository - which isn't
available for armv5tel.
Yes, that is so. I used it as a guide as there are errors in it.
Which I sent to the author and were not incorporated.
But I got amavisd-new-2.8.0-8.el6.noarch from epel (I just checked
my notes and system), which is no longer available in epel6. I
went through quite a bit at the time doing bug reports on the
integration of clamav and amavisd that were fixed. So I will have
to look in the epel list history to see when and why it was pulled
then see what if anything people are doing to replace it.
Error on my part. epel6 is up to: amavis-new-2.9.1-2
And on the Centos list there is discussion on it with Centos7, thus
I
am guessing it is in epel7.
It IS in epel6-arm, but not all of its dependencies. So it won't
install.
You are right - it does seem to have broken dependencies. But
as I mentioned before, the EPEL6 repository was contributed,
and is not actively maintained.
Further research finds:
yum deplist amavisd-new
dependency: perl(Net::Server) >= 0.87
Unsatisfied dependency
dependency: perl(Mail::SPF)
Unsatisfied dependency
Don't know if these have further unsatisfied dependencies. Will ask
on the epel list.
yum deplist spamassassin
Error: Package: perl-IO-Compress-Base-2.035-1.CTBTO.el6.noarch

So here epel is asking for a version that is not yet available in
update. Of course, can't tell if more would be revealed after this
is
fixed.
If one of the list members would like to step in to maintain
it, please, do speak up.
I will ask on epel list about amavisd dependencies. Can you please
look into the spamassassin version issue?
You misunderstand - there is no EPEL6 for armv5tel other than as part
of RSEL. The only EPEL6 for armv5tel is the one contributed for
RedSleeve by Michael Lang, and that is no longer maintained. The only
way that is going to change in the near future is if somebody here
steps
up to maintain it.
By all means do try to persuade them to take on the maintenance
of EPEL6 for RedSleeve; I'll be pleasantly surprised if you succeed.
Oh. I missed that distinction. I thought you were referring to
specific packages in epel no longer having a maintainer. I see
messages about that a lot on the epel list. About packages being
'orphaned'.
I mean the entire armv5tel architecture EPEL6 port _repository_ is
orphaned. What we need is an EPEL6 armv5tel repository maintainer.
But this is interesting in light of the messages I got trying to
install spamassassin.
Error: Package: perl-IO-Compress-Base-2.035-1.CTBTO.el6.noarch
(el6-epel)
Requires: perl(Compress::Raw::Zlib) >= 2.035

(el6-update)
perl(Compress::Raw::Bzip2) = 2.021
That looks like broken packages in the el6-epel repository:
perl-IO-Compress-Base-2.035-1.CTBTO.el6.noarch
perl-IO-Compress-Base-2.035-1.CTBTO.el6.noarch
I suggest you disable the epel repository and install the ones
from the base/updates repository, they don't have missing
dependencies.
Then enable the epel repository to install other things you
need.
The mentioned packages probably shouldn't be in the el6-epel
repository anyway since they are in the base repository, and
no repository should contain packages that aren't depsolvable
from either base or the repository itself.
