Jonathon if you were to send me how you would like the glyphs in the spreadsheet to be arranged I could probably write a macro to do the job.

Writing a macro that accepts ALT+ 4 keys from the numeric keypad is not straight forward. For a start OOo doesn't differentiate between the numeric keypad and the numeric keys typically cross the top of the main keyboard. However, I could write a macro where on pressing a key combination to run the macro, the next four key presses get interpreted for inputting a unicode character. The macro would be cancelled if any of the next four characters weren't a digit. Would something like this be useful?
