I just made it part of my AltKeyHandler routine which currently only works in Writer (no one has asked for it to be available in the other components). Would this do? If so I could upload the changes to my web page. The Alt + four hex digits directly would take me a little longer to write (I should be working on a template and add-on installer but keep getting distracted from it), and would tie up the key short cuts Alt+0 to Alt+9 and Alt+a to Alt+f.
