On my Ubuntu Linux computer, when I print from Firefox, I get the option to

get that functionality?
That is handled by your print driver, methinks. What printer?
Perhaps I wasn't clear. I print from Firefox to printer named "Foo". It
gives me the option to print multiple pages per sheet, which works fine. I
then print from Writer to the exact same printer. It does not give me the
option to print multiple pages per sheet. Not that it matters, but this is
a "LaserJet P-3005" printer.
It sounds like you have OO.o set to use OO.o print dialogues. Go to
Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/General and under 'Print dialogs' uncheck 'Use
OpenOffice.orgs dialogs'.
