When you export PDF, make sure that you also select 'Export notes'. That
will export the slides, and then following will export the notes pages
(slide on top, notes bottom is the default).

While I'm at it; here is a feature that you might find useful in
preparing presentations etc that is available in OOo 3.x:

The 'hybrid' feature in the PDF importer extension allows you to export
a document (impress, writer etc) as a PDF and then reopen that same
document in the same element (impress, writer, etc) for editing.
