The printing of notes, handouts, etc in Impress 3 is different from Impress 2, so that reference is not directly relevant to Jeremy's problem, as he is using OOo2.x.
The first edition of the Impress 3 Guide has been published, but it is being reviewed again. Having user feedback, on this list and in the forums, helps greatly with improving (and correcting) the docs.
