I don't see it, either and I expected to, at <quote> tools > options > Load/Save > General > in the bottom right corner there is a drop down labeled "Always save as" where you can select your choice. </quote> I do see a Unified Office Format somethign or other, but no idea what it means. And the 2003 XML the OP mentions. I have 3.1 on XP Pro SP3+. I wonder if .RTF would work or mess up things? It's great for text documents but can go off track on you with complex documents, IME. RTF can be used by just about any editor. Or maybe it's considered included in one of the other definitions, but if I were a writer I'd want to know for sure, not just hope it works and discover a month from now a bunch of things that don't correlate properly.
