Ed, Sorry about that. OpenOffice is free software that you can download yourself. It is a "big" bit of software to download though. That is why many people choose to pay a small "convenience" fee to have it burnt on a CD.
Anyone is allowed to download it and resell the free package for whatever they can get. It sounds like you did not have a good experience with GA Computer Sciences. In my opinion (just another user on the list), they ought to at least replace the CD. This is a mail list that will support you. It works better if you sign up for it. Or you may not see the answers. Keeping email on the list provides a history and resource for others. Go to openoffice.org to download your own version, if you can. Or search the mail list archives.
