(OpenOffice.org is the correct name and is abbreviated as OOo.)
Open office saves files in a different format than MS Word. While OOo
can read MS Word's format, MS Word can not read OOo's format.
So what you need to do is to save the files you take to school in
MS Word's format. I would suggest you save these files on your computer
in OOo's format as you are writing them. Then when you are finished,
use the Save As function to save it to a floppy disk. Save As is found
in the File menu. Make sure to select the "File type" as "Microsoft
Word 97/2000/XP .doc". Then click Save.
