Having said that, the phrase "internationally standardised" could apply
to the MS formats as they are "standards" that are used in more than one
country.

It CAN be used by any application because it is an open format. If
other applications do not support it yet, it does not negate the fact
that developers of other applications have the ability to read the
documents and provide the functionality.

Contrast that with the "other leading product" where the formats are
secret and developers of competing apps have to guess what the format
does and reverse engineer the whole deal.

I don't think there is any dishonesty when you look at the intent of
the phrases used. I actually think it compares well with the public
statements of that other company which specialises in FUD and breaking
of internationally accepted standards.
