Hi Pierre,

You can download the Sun Download Manager (SDM) from the Sun Java site.

It does just what you want.

I have saved myself many hours of doublework using it. The only minor requirement is to copy the download location into SDM, tell it what directory to put it in and let it go. You can even pause the download and resume it later on. After a crash or disconnect you always have the option to restart it.

HTH,

Ken Wagner

Try Firefox Tools-> Extension->s get more Extensions. I am currently trying the Aria download manager. It resumes nicely and does a lot of other nice things.

If you're comfortable with command line stuff, the wget program works nicely with versions for Windoze and Linux.

I downloaded Open Office new version. My connection is a very slow dialup therefore it took me close to 5 hours to download 48 mb, than the connection broke. I am using Firefox. Is there a way to continue the downloading, without starting all over again.

Try downloading the free web browser Opera. While I prefer Firefox, Opera is much better for large downloads because it can resume a download partway if you close the browser or the connection breaks.
