I have tried to follow this thread and have come to the conclusion that there is a bit of a misunderstanding. The misunderstanding being that you are expecting Calc to be about 20% of the total space required. This assumption is not correct. In fact the core of OOo on my system is about 95Mb while the calc module is about 7.2Mb so you will always have the core with you. Again on my system, the rest of the suite is only 12Mb. So you can see you do not save much. > > I am fairly sure there are installation programs that use a TEMP > folder and remove unnecessary files and folders when an installation > is complete. I have not understood what this means. I am guessing that you unpacked the download image and then saved it to CD. Is this correct? I am guessing that then you installed OOo and ended up with the sort of numbers I gave you above. Is this correct? If yes then I am even more puzzled because you can install from CD so, please explain a bit more clearly so we can evaluate what is going on. > > Anyway, thanks again for your help, > > Wayne Tuttle > > > > Since I have a CD for emergencies, why leave everything on my hard > > > disk after the installation?
