You followed the direction in Eric's document (somewhere on the download page) or the directions in http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/2.x/en/SETUP_GUIDE.pdf as I think you missed a step such as not installing X11. Please note that [email protected] is a mailing list and the best email address you can use when you have a users problem or question about OpenOffice.org.
