question in response was whether there was any way of changing the
default border thickness, so he could use the more convenient (for him
anyway) toolbar button. I could not find a way to do this. Is there a
way that I'm missing?
The standard answer to most formatting questions in OpenOffice.org is -
Styles!
I'm not aware of any way of changing the default border thickness of the
toolbar icon, but it's easy to create a new style with the desired
settings.
- Show the Styles and Formatting box by pressing F11 (or selecting Format
/ Styles and Format from the menu)
- Right click somewhere in the box and select New. Give the new style an
appropriate name. Perhaps "Borders".
- Click on the Borders tab, and create the desired borders with the
required thicknesses.
- Click OK.
Now any time you want to apply borders to a cell, just select the new
style.
