I agree with you. I wish there was an easier way to adjust borders
manually.
I looked through the available toolbar icons (in case there is a border
thickness icon we can add to the toolbar), but I didn't find one.
(**correction below**)
The only other method I can think of is:
1. Manually adjust the borders of some cells using Format / Cells /
Borders.
2. Use the Format Paintbrush to apply the borders to other cells if
necessary.
I can't think of anything easier than that, unless someone were to
create a border width toolbar icon.
If someone knows of anything easier, then please correct me. I'd love to
know!
Adrian
** Correction: Just before sending this email, I had another quick look
through the available icons. On the Formatting toolbar, there are
already two useful icons listed, but not ticked. They are:
- Line Style (this adjusts the line style of the borders, including
thickness, double lines etc)
- Line Colour (of the border)
Enabling these icons isn't too hard:
- Tools / Customize / Toolbars and select the Formatting toolbar (or
just click the down arrow at the end of the Formatting toolbar and
select Customize Toolbar)
- Scroll down the list and tick the two buttons mentioned above.
- Click OK.
The previous border size is still not remembered, but now it's a lot
easier to change. And using the Format Paintbrush you can copy those
borders elsewhere without having to recreate them step by step.
Hope this is helpful.
Someone asked a question about Writer recently, and the answer was
to
use styles. Perhaps the same thing is true here.
Open the Styles and Formating Window (F11). Unless you are using a
different style, Default should be selected. Right click Default and then
Modify from the context menu. Using the Border tab, modify the color and
width of the cell borders. Click OK. All of the cells on all sheets will
now have the chosen borders.

What about if I want a line thickness that isn't represented in the border
type selection field? Is that possible?
