Here's a thought... look at the page style your first page is using. If
the page adjusts the margins differently for left pages from right
pages, the style should indicate a left page-oriented style or a right
page-oriented style. Check to see if the left page-oriented style has a
right page-oriented style set as the "Next Style" and vice versa. If so,
insert a left page-oriented style before the offending first page. This
should cause the following page to adjust itself automatically to a
right page-oriented style.
It works for me.
