I have both OOo and Word 2003
and Yes sometimes there is a problem with the Formatting
But I use OOo for most of my document work
(about 1/2 % or less MS Office is needed for something)
Yes - it is best to save the resume in PDF, since many online places
require a PDF document
Also - go to Microsoft and download the Word Viewer Program
then you can test the document on the same computer as you created/edit it.
Also try the "two" versions of DOC format
Word 95
Word 97/2000/XP
Try RTF format as well, since it is more cross platform thnt DOC
and Word read that format as well

Openoffice is not 100% Word compatible, just 99%.
Most of the documents move OK between both programs, but sometimes complex
format doesn't. "Professional looking" resumes usually use that kind of
format.
The easiest solution is to send the curriculum in pdf format. It will
probably
look more professional anyway.
The long and best solution is to try to discover what is the exact format
option that doesn't translate well and fill a "bug report" in the openoffice
web page. This error will likely be corrected in the future.
