I take issue with that statement. There is one (1) Linux OS. The various
flavours are called distributions.

Linux undergoes revision regularly, new versions of the kernel are
released all the time.

Windows releases a new version tommorrow, which is an update from 5
years ago.

To forestall this thread continuing ad nauseum. I would like to suggest
those interested download the Knoppix CD or DVD and try before you leap
into a hard disk drive distro. Knoppix will boot straight into a fully
working linux distribution from the CD without effecting the Windows
hard disk. Just be aware that because it runs from a CD and has +-2GB of
software on said CD (+-10GB for the DVD) it runs slower than both
windows and slower than a proper linux installation.

All you need do is set your BIOS to boot from CD. Anyone unable to set
the BIOS to boot from CD does not have th etechnical expertise to
maintain a Linux system.
