Let me take another try at this. I downloaded Autumn4.otp and
placed it in the global
<openoffice2.1>/share/template/en-US/present/ folder. (I use OOo 2.1)
Then I use File > Templates > Organize to open the Template
Management window. I clicked the Command drop down list and selected
Update. Autumn4.otp appears in the Presentation folder, and it also
appears in the Task Pane in the Master Pages section under Available
for Use.
There seem to be two differences between your installation of OOo
and mine. I have installed OOo from the *.rpm's supplied from the OOo
web site. You are using *.deb's for your installation. Your global
installation is in /user/lib/ while mine is in /opt/.
Are you using your *.deb installation files from the Debian or
Ubuntu web site? Or, did you create the *.deb installation files from
the OOo *.rpm files?
Would someone using either Debian or Ubuntu try to place the
template file in the global folder? Using what I have done, please
update the templates to get the template to appear in the
Presentation folder of the Template Management window. Then open a
new presentation to see if this template appears in the Task pane
under Master Pages in the Available for Use section.
It is possible that when the *.deb installation files you are
using are missing the part needed to have the new template appear in
the Available for Use section.
