Dean, sorry to be off topic here, but have you found a Ubuntu download for
OOo2.1 ?...

We are using the official Debian packages for OpenOffice from the Debian
mirrors. With Ubuntu we use the Ubuntu mirrors. We are only using
the "official distribution packages".

The template always shows a little preview image in the "Available for
Use"
section. But as soon as I click on the Autumn4 image, the preview image
disappears and the tempate is not applied.

Are you able to apply the template to an existing presentation?

The students love to change the background of their slides using the
templates. The students gathered these templates off of the Internet and
re-saved them as OpenOffice templates. I've deposited them in the global
folder so all the students can use the templates. Maybe it is the
conversion
process broke the template?
