husband's computer (Microsoft Word). When he tried to open the file it was

Margaret,
MS Office cannot open files saved in OpenOffice format.
There are several solutions:
1. From OpenOffice, do a File > Save As, and for the file type, select
Microsoft Word/97/2000/XP.
or
2. Export the file as a PDF file. This is a very good approach IF they
don't need to edit the file.
or
3. Have your husband install OpenOffice on his computer.
