You are probably referring to Tools >Options >OOo Writer >Basic fonts. The changes you make should be registered in your user folder. If you can find out which file/s are involved (by noting which files change when you alter the settings), you could try renaming them to xxx.xxx.bad (after exiting the software completely). Otherwise, you could try doing the same thing with the whole user folder. You'll then find yourself having to deal with the registration screen again and, much, much worse, having to cope with the default settings. If nothing like that fixes the problem, this may well be a bug.
