[users] problem installing spelling dictionary

I found the myspell dictionary files for Basque spelling check on 
internet and wanted to install them in openoffice.org 2.1, in linux. 
After copying the files to the right directory, editing dictionary.lst 
in the correct way, I can select Basque as the desired spelling checker 
language. But when trying it by purposely mistyping, nothing is marked 
wrong. Re-opening the spelling check sheet in options doesn't show 
Basque anymore with a check mark.
Whatever I try, I won't get it to work. I know the dictionary works 
because in thunderbird, firefox, nvu, etc, it works. Is it possible to 
add any new spelling dictionary? And if so, how?
