Hi David
I am doing an MS Word course, but I'm using OpenOffice.org. (I'm doing this to prove a point to my wife!) Anyhow, I have a bit of a problem. Two of the exercises require that I put a certain amount of space (measured in 'points') between paragraphs. I have no problem putting the space between the paragraphs, but I do have a problem trying to equate 'inches' to 'points'.
You don't have to convert it. Just type (e.g.) 12pt into the box, and OpenOffice.org (or most other word processors too) will convert it for you automatically. I love your experiment, and often did something similar earlier in the year when I was teaching Word and Excel courses. If someone said they didn't have Microsoft Office on their home computer (to practice), I'd tell them about OpenOffice.org being free, and tell them to try it during the class. I'd start up OpenOffice.org for them, and get them to do the lesson from the Word or Excel course. The students were always amazed, convinced of the value of OpenOffice.org, and rarely had problems.
