Didn't help. I opened the .odt file and saved it as Word 97 .doc
file. I then opened the .doc file with Word 97, and the table was gone.
I really hate to recommend a newer version of Word, but Word 2002 has
been better behaved for me than Word 97.
That is not really a desirable option. I'm trying out OOo because MS no
longer supports Office 97 and the price of a new version of MS Office is
outrageous. So far, I'm favorably impressed with OOo. The combination of
OOo and Thunderbird/Lightning does 90+% of the things I did with MS Office.
I'm keeping MS Office 97 on my machine for the few things that OOo does
not support.
