Only somewhere along the lines of these discussions, things (sometimes) tend to lose track (is this English? I mean as 'a train that gets off the rails'. Which is something we say in the Netherlands when something goes in a not intended direction).

Ciao,

Cor,

Here are some train or track related expressions (U.S. English) that might apply to some list threads.

We might "lose track" of our original subject.

The discussion might be "derailed", go off the tracks like a train accident.

We might be "side-tracked" or diverted from our original direction or goal.
