Hi Jim,

The last few times, a new install of a new version of OpenOffice has simply accepted my settings, which is nice.

However it still on occasion (latest being this evening) unaccountably switches around to the "factory defaults," that is, the curly quotes, and changing of double hyphens into one dash, among others.

The only simple way I can think of, is the by accident the menu 'Format|Auto format|While typing' is ticked. If that is not the case, it must be something like that the file with your settings (common.xcu, IIRC) got corrupted and is replaced by a new one on restarting of OOo.

Kindest regards,
Cor
