No ... but the OOo icon has reappeared in the system Tray after restarting
the computer a couple of times. It has been missing for a while, through
several re-starts, and now it is back - bit of a mystery?

Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>Memory and then tick the box "Load
OpenOffice.org during system start-up". Click OK and the "birds" icon
should appear in your System Tray (official name for that part of the
screen). This should now also survive a re-boot.
