Hi Harold,

No, none of my system Tray icons were "Hidden" in that there were no "<<" arrows to indicate hidden icons. I know what you mean, as I usually have to click on "<<" to access my 'birds icon'. However, while it was missing, there was no "<<" button, but now the birds icon has reappeared, so to has the "<<" icon, so I have done as you suggested and unticked "Hide inactive icons" as it was always a bother to have to click "<<" to view them.

Many thanks, James

Hi Harold

That box is already ticked and I forgot to mention that Openoffice.org 2.3
is also in my Windows Programs/Start Menu ... but no icon in the System
Tray.

Many thanks for your interest.

James

Are some of the icons in your System Tray "hidden"? If so there will be a
left-pointing arrow (more like a greater-than sign) at the left end of the
Tray. Click on it to display those hidden icons.

I had a problem with missing Tray icons. I Googled and found that it can
often be fixed by deselecting the "Hide inactive icons" option: *right*
click the Start button; select Properties; select the Taskbar tab; ensure
there is no tick in the "Hide inactive icons" box. Your System Tray might
get a little bigger but you might start seeing the missing icon(s).

Good luck.
