That's because Linux only has a very small segment of the market. If
Linux gains a larger market share, then the idiots that write viruses
will begin to write viruses for Linux.
Anyone who makes that claim simply doesn't understand how the
vulnerabilities occur.
I forgot to mention that Unix and Linux are secure enough that they're
often used to run the firewalls that are necessary to protect Windows
boxes. I have a Linksys WiFi router/firewall here that runs on Linux.
Also, there has never been a viable Linux virus.
