Many vets, doctors, chiropractors, and other professionals run profession-specific applications, office-management, patient-tracking, book-keeping/billing systems and other important-to-them packages that exist only on Windows, so your vet would need to keep a separate PC for Linux, just for e-mail. Quite likely s/he'd begrudge the use of the space for a single purpose machine like that.
