Another thing to try is to open the document from within
OpenOffice.org. Just go to File -> Open and browse to your document.

If you want to send me the document personally, I can promise to not
to reveal the data, and to destroy it once we solve the problem. I
often do that for people who come to the gibberish.co.il website.
