I forget what OOo does. Other (windows) software often has a set of 
tick boxes for where shortcuts should go - start menu (and pick a 
group name), desktop, 'quick launch' toolbar. 

One thing I /hate/ with a vengeance is software that plasters its 
shortcuts everywhere without asking. There's always the hassle of 
checking whether that cluttering desktop shortcut is unique, or 
whether it's just a copy of what's on the start menu (and I have seen 
cases where is was indeed unique).
