Hi,
I am on a student tech team for Messalonskee High School. One of the
projects that the tech team is taking on is giving away computers to the
people who don't have/cant afford a computer. We are trying to decide
weather or not we should use Linux or Windows 98. I am looking for some
freeware and I was wondering if openoffie works on windows 98?

Assuming the computer meets the minimum requirements, OpenOffice will run. If you don't even have that, you may want to run OpenOffice v1.1.5, instead of 2.4.

As for Windows 98 or Linux, that would again depend on the hardware. A modern Linux distro will require more resources than W98, but less than XP. On the other hand, Windows 98 is no longer supported by Microsoft, so no more bug fixes.

BTW, OpenOffice and Linux are not "freeware". They are licensed under GPL and available at no charge.
