Dear Twayne: You may have seen my message to Jim. I can't make the auto-correct method work, although I've done exactly what you say. I've tried Help, but it is no help. I can't even find a ln-dash in Special Characters, to insert it the long way. TS ----- Original Message ----- From: "Twayne" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Open Writer, click Tools | AutoCorrect.

Decide what you want to type when you want the "N-Dashes"; put that in Replace box, then put what you want it replaced with in With. Click New I think it is, to add it, & OK your way out.

From now on whenever it sees whatever you entered in Replace, it'll change it to what you wanted. Help does a decent job of explaining if I haven't; I know this is brief and there are several other option tabs available too.

Dear Twayne: Thanks! Have you the patience to explain what
Autocorrect is & how I could use it? I'd be really grateful. TS

I use N-dashes very frequently in my work. Can anyone tell me a
simple way in OOWriter to make one insertable with one press of a
key? T. Steel

AutoCorrect would work; pretty sure.
