save the document again even if you have only opened it and printed a
copy of it without making any alterations at all. I always wondered
why this was so when I had made no alterations until I found out
about this setting. Try with the tick out and then again with the
tick in - and do not forget the OK button at the bottom each time.
Very good point. I'm not sure that this is the case here as there are a
few bugs filed regarding this issue, but well worth checking. Thanks for
pointing that out.
In other parts of the original discussion, the OP (Sandy) described
having changed the font size to what she expected it to be from her Word
(or maybe Works) file. She didn't consider that a "real" change. There
are some things (like the one Jean mentioned about printing, and updates
of fields like current date) that can take people by surprise, but most
don't have any issue with just discarding the "changes" when they didn't
intend to make any. Sandy was unwilling to do that, since the message
didn't specify just what all the options on closing meant, and got
herself in enough of a lather to kill OOo from the Windows task manager.
Then when OOo tried to recover the file on restarting she was irritated
and frustrated all over again, since she was also unwilling to cancel
the recovery. I don't think she's following the list any more, anyway,
she was giving up on OOo until it matures!
