In which case I'd suggest your coding philosophy is wrong. There is
/zero/ reason to code for such rare events - code which is hardly
testable, and best omitted, leaving [un]subscription to be done
manually. Then it can't possibly go wrong.... a "listener" should be
exactly that, IMO.
All this makes me feel glad I use gmane newsgroup access ;-)
