There is no  umlaut over the A in angstrom, Gene. It's a unique
Swedish/Norwegian letter (a with a circle over it -- pronounced "aw"). If
you want to expand it, in the absence of the correct letter, the convention
is to use two a's -- aangstroem.

More common, though, for a unit of measure, is to ignore the umlaut over the
o and to reduce the a-circle to an ordinary a -- angstrom.
