I do not have an automatic and programmable thermostat, but a dial one from
Honeywell. It is in degrees Celsius only. I usually set it at 20 degrees
when I am at home.
A few days I saw a King (US brand) cold milk dispenser that did not deliver
milk at safe temperatures (green zone) between 32 and 40 degrees (F); but
in a safe range between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius. I saw them in Fahrenheit a
few years earlier, thegreen zone was between 32 to 40 degrees, without
qualifier. Some people here may have thought that it delivered warm milk.

Bill,

Your posting reminded me of the situation with my Honeywell CT2800 model
thermostat. I had won this thing as a door prize some years ago and never
used it until recently. Like you I had an older thermostat of a different
brand that was in degrees Celsius, selectable by a solder jumper. I just
changed the jumper so it would work in degrees Celsius. And everything was
fine for many years.
