I mereley observed the self contradictory stance you take over our 
democracy. You defend the autonomous powers of the upper house over an 
elected government, but insist that metrication should only be at the 
consent of ordinary people.

For what it's worth, my own position on the subject of popular support for 
metrication is that *if* popular opinion is against completing metrication 
in the UK, that doesn't mean it is wrong to do it. People's minds can be 
changed if they are properly informed about the issues and the reasons for 
change properly explained and justified.
