The Ikea in Atlanta furnishes one meter long tapes with millimeters and
centimeters on one side and on the other side inches with graduations as low
as 1/16ths. I have picked one up each time we have shopped there so we now
have several of them. I recall looking in an Ikea Alanta catalog and
noticing that the smallest measures are 1/16ths. It seems obvious to me
that their products have been defined and manufactured to metric measures
and then converted to 16ths of an inch for the catalog furnished to the
typical American market, at least here in the southern states.
