Some obviously do. I would say most don't care. Many are quite happy to buy in metric. Metric is the main measurement in UK stores anyway. "Whether viewed as good or bad it is a fact that the average UK customer may size up his requirements in either imperial or metric, and a quick 'listen in' on the conversations between customer and salesman in any shop of that sort quickly identifies this." Are you trying to maintain the fiction that advocates of metric are against choice again? A customer can ask if wants inches of cm' s (or moon units, if he or she prefers). The thing is, in all likelihood, all final measurements of materials will ultimately be measured out in metric anyway, converted from the imperial.
