Agree. I'm not sure about other languages, but in English, in law and
commerce, weight is a synonym for mass, and physics and engineering "borrowed"
(stole?) the word for force of planetary gravity acting on the mass (not for
any other force), AND declared the rest of us can't use it for mass any more.
I think we have to accept "weight" is completely ambiguous, and could refer to
either the mass or the force of gravity on it; the intended meaning MUST be
inferred from context and it is extremely pedantic to not do so. It is no
different than recognizing a foot is either something on the end of your leg or
0.3048 m. English is full of ambiguity.
Using the force interpretation, my "weight" in newtons is also the earth's
weight in my gravitational field. Does that make sense? (equal and opposite).
We won't even get into pounds (mass) and pounds-force (lbf).

to realize that nearly everything under the hood is metric. Moments like these
are always a reminder that in the US, weights and measures are part of the
inscrutable medical jargon. It shouldn't have to be this way.

As a direct consequence of Maxwell's equations, the electric and magnetic
