If Customary is going to be used in science or engineering, I would prefer
that the poundal be used for force and pound for mass, similar to the SI, and
matching the legal definition of the pound. In high school, I was taught the
slug and never heard of poundals. Of course in college, I was taught real
science and engineering was done in MKSA (the name SI was not yet well
circulated, although initiated in 1960).
Much later, learned that the poundal-pound (mass)-second was a Customary
alternative to the pound-force-slug-second system but never used either. Real
science and engineering is done in SI.

I am an engineer. I teach at a school with a high number of future military
people, and so I teach in metric.
Some one always comes up and says – I like us customary units and I look at
them and say – the Corp guys get to fight and die in metric – I teach metric
for them .
A large education campaign in the USA – your sons and daughters need metric for
the military service – we support them etc…

I'm an anesthesiologist, so I deal with patients' weights and weight-based
medication dosing every day. You're absolutely right, no one calls it "mass."
If I had a patient insist on calling it "mass," we'd end up having an
interesting conversation and I'd oblige, but I won't change my practice. All
the docs have taken a combined 3 years of physics and chemistry in college, so
we do understand the distinction between mass and weight.
Interestingly enough, once in a while we do get patients who will state their
weight in kilograms. The are for the most part the unfortunate folks who have
a chronic condition and have been exposed to the healthcare system long enough
to realize that nearly everything under the hood is metric. Moments like these
are always a reminder that in the US, weights and measures are part of the
inscrutable medical jargon. It shouldn't have to be this way.

Until you allow metric units and international date standard, i recommend to
usma a boycott of your app.
Also, you should use body mass instead of Weight. The unit of Weight is the
Newton, the unit of mass is the Kg.

Similarily, the unit of magnetic field, 1 tesla is defined as if an electric
charge of 1 coulomb is moving at a velocity of 1 m/s perpendicular to a
magnetic field of 1 tesla, it experiences a force of 1 newton perpendicular to
both the magnetic field and velocity vectors.
1 Newton is the force that accelerates 1 kilogram by 1 m/(s^2). THERE IS NO
RELATION BETWEEN Tesla, Newton AND THE STUPID OBSCURANTIST FOOT/POUND.
Einstein's famous equation, E = m x c^2 works only in metric and other coherent
systems: m is in Kg, c = 3 x 10^8 m/s , E = energy in joules, 1 wh = 3600
(watt-sec or joules). 1 more reason to dump the stupid moronic idiotic
foot/pound system and switch to metric.
Thus in the metric system, 1 Kg of matter that gets completely converted into
energy, would generate 9 x 10^16 Joules or (9 x 10^16/3600000) = 2.5 x 10^10 KWH
To apply Einstein's famous equation in non-metric units, the unit of energy
would be defined as the kinetic energy of 2 units of mass moving at a speed of
1 unit of length/sec and the speed of light in vacuum expressed in units of
length/sec.
Since we already have 1 Volt x 1 Amp x 1 sec = 1 Joule of electrical energy,
for non-metric units, you would have to define another obscure unit of energy.
As a direct consequence of Maxwell's equations, the electric and magnetic
fields of an electromagnetic wave traveling in vacuum, which are 3 dimensional
vectors, are perpendicular to each other and the ratio of their magnitude E/B =
c , the speed of light in vacuum 299792458 m/s so if the magnetic field B=1
tesla,the electric field E=299792458 newton/coulomb.
