Support for the motion sensor in thinkpads as been around for a year
(http://rlove.org/log/2005091401.html).  I'm not sure if it by default
enables shock protection or not, because I haven't paid too much
attention since I don't have a thinkpad. I don't know how much Ubuntu
supports it.
