I have Metzeler MEZ4s (which I can't mount until Kosman finishes
my rear wheel). I've used them (and MEZ2, MEZ3) on my GTS-1000,
love them. I've also used the Pirelli Dragon (not the Corsa), and
it's basically the same tire as the MEZ with a slightly different
tread pattern. Both tires are made in the same plants.

Other favorites of the GTS group:
Battlax BT-57: Dual density compound. Harder in the middle,
softer on the sides. I wasn't particularly fond of them myself,
I fried a set in a weekend of hard twisties. (never before wore
out the sides before the middle!)

Avon Azaro: I hear has great handling, wet or dry. But they supposedly
wear VERY fast in the 2nd half of the tread depth.

Michelin Macadam: A little more mileage, yet decent handling.

I hear Dunlop D207s are great. (standard tire on the R1)
The D202s are terrible. They're cheap OEM things.

The GTS-1000 is probably a good bike to compare to the Vmax- If a
tire works well on the GTS, it might work well on the Vmax. True,
the handling is different, but the weight is almost the same.
